In memorial of deceased Mr. Mumtaz Zeytinoglu, founder and ex-president of the Eskisehir Industry Chamber, and to promote the research and development efforts of the Chamber members, it has been decided to offer technology awards every second year.

These awards are being offered every second year since 1985 on the following three different fields, “Technology Development”, “Product Development” and “Application of Technology”.

Award of Technology Development: It is offered to the person or establishment who/that has invented a new technology used in the production of a product, which was not used before.

Award of Product Development: It is offered to the person or establishment who/that developed a product, which was unknown or was not used though it was known or not produced in our country.

Award of Application of Technology: It is offered to the person or establishment who/that adapted and applied a developed technology that is new to Turkey and over the world average, for the production of a product.

The applications for the technology awards are evaluated by a 7 members committee that conforms of 2 representatives of the Turkish Institution of Scientific and Technical Researches, 2 representatives of local universities and 3 representatives of the Industry Chamber.

Besides a plate and letter, certain amount of the Chamber Budget is presented to the award winners.

The technology awards are the first and only awards on this field that are offered by a chamber in our country. During the period of 1987-1997, the Technology Awards were offered 7 times and 8 establishments were honoured with the Technology Development Award, 11 establishments were honoured with the Product Development Award and 14 establishments were honoured with the Application of Technology Award. At the 8th distribution of the awards in 1999, 3 establishments were honoured on three different fields.

The Industrial Chamber of Eskisehir, which is of the opinion that industrialisation is a precondition of development and that industrialisation can only be reached through a dynamic structure that is producing its own technology, is supporting the technology development effort of its members through the distribution of the awards.
